Definitely 60s/70s.
There is one just outside Horsforth on Kirkstall road,i remember running past it, back in the direction of Leeds, as a very little kid after going up to Kirkstall Abbey and realising that i had left Leeds and wanted to get back.
Even then i was a passionate loiner and didnt want to go any where else.
i think there is also one between Leeds and Tong,the one you took is near the gypsey camp on the way to Gildersome,is that right?

Spot on there csnosi. yes we didn't hang about too long near there i can say  Would you say it's as old as the 70's then? I'd be pleased if it were!

Phill - if you look at the bottom of page 5 of this threadyou'll see I've posted a pic of this sign asking for guesses as to where it was - no-one ever did and I'd forgotten all about it!
The wording at the bottom says 'Post Hill'
I Like the retro Owl signs - I think there's also still one on Otley Old Rd between Cookridge and Bramhope.

defo that early,i was very young,about 5 or 6,so about 1971/1972

These are from Whitelock's - Turk's Head Yard to be precise.
But - did you know that the mural of Cricket Ground/pub/Church is based on a real place?(with a little artistic license!) Any guesses where - (it has an LS postcode)

Does look like Seacroft but this Church has a turret - St James' has a spire and I don't recall it ever not been so.

Wondered about that but the picture seemed a little more 'Regal' but yes, from earlier in the thread, I suspect Turk's is more probable.

Sorry about keeping you all in suspense -
Its not Seacroft its the lovely cricket ground at Methley (ls26!). The real pub is called the Rose and Crown. - the artist has used a little license as I say, but the real scene is very like it.

I never noticed you'd got that one Drapsey...Guess where you'd been having a pint then...
If you serch for Aberford on flickr you'll find the White swan & story about it...this is what it says.
The Swan Hotel on the Main Street is a typical coaching inn and was a popular halt on the London to Edinburgh run during the 18th and 19th centuries. Walking through the archway into the courtyard on the cobbled approach is like travelling back in time and it is easy to imagine the hive of activity which must have existed when the Royal Mail coaches were arriving and departing. Indeed under the archway the old coaching bell which was rung to indicate a departure still hangs almost expectantly and above the stables in the courtyard the sign which announces 'J. Heaton Licensed to Let Post Horses' can still be seen. The Royal Mail horses, however, were not stabled here; they had their accomodation directly across the road in a building still standing and until recently used to have a fish and chip shop next to it.

there is one of these near the wellington inn on the a58 and another near the fox and grapes on the a64,they were insitue in the late 60s and early 70s...when it was the leeds badge.
