Nuff said then. Was the guess where to be guessed as a quiz or did you need to know in reality?

I thought the close up was in "ask the family" with robert robinson? Not exactly kids tv even if 4 of the 8 competitors were kids.

Re: The 'Crown' sign alongside the Corn Exchange.
I'm not sure about the decorators shop...but it certainly used to be the 'Crown Fisheries' a fish and chip shop.
I believe its decendant is still trading from different premisis somewhere near there.
Also the heel bar next to the bus stops used to be 'Hayes Fish Bar' where you could buy fresh fish and ,my dads favorite, fresh crab.
The signs on the gable end above, now painted over by the large mural, and round the corner facing Kirkgate, were advertising Tetleys Ales. The latter had a red neon outline to the lettering.

It's on the University campus. That's the edge of the Parkinson building that you can see to the right of the picture.

What a pity. There's loads of these badly faded ones. There's some really good examples hid behind the advertising boards already up. I wish they's rip the things off!!!

Could that sign above have said 'Pears'?
As in Pears Soap.

Lils Cafe

Have been looking on Leodis.net there is a picture of 11 Call Lane in 1991, at that time it was The Monti Carlo Coffee House. Above it can be seen the signs for LILS CAFE. The sign appears to be fresh it certainly is a bright white.

This is one of our fave old painted adverts, IMO it should be a city treasure and on postcards!

"Medically tested

BILE BEANS

The ideal tonic laxative"

How do you test a laxative!!!??? Shocked

There's a nice small sign on the Mill building (Winker Green Mills) just past Tesco on Armley Road/Stanningly Road, for 'The Fox Lace Co'. I'd grab a shot of it before it inevitably dissappears as part of the new development there.

Not in the best condition but I spotted this one the other week. It's on the end of Highbury Road / Monkbridge Road on the Meanwood- Headingley border.

It looks like it says Monkbridge Stores and Taylor but I can't make out the bottom bit.

On the same trip I took a picture of this lamppost which is on the bend of Monkbridge Road. Anyone know what "Area 3" is or could have been? Is it just a border marker for the old Electricity Board?

It's a pity it's seen better days! I had a quick go @ photo editing it & restoring it back to it's former glory- but it's had it, gone for good i'm afraid :-(

Top maks to Bob's shoe repairs in Chasppel Allerton for bringing the old roof sign back to life. I captured it early Saturday morning getting a good old scrub up first.

Up until a few years ago that was covered by a big billboard (that's why there's all that black gunk around the edges).
